Ageing is a universal phenomenon. It is the upshot of demographic transition with a decline in both birth and mortality rates, improved nutrition and a consequent increase in life expectancy. In most of the Indian families, elderly people are not getting proper emotional and physical support. The plight of the widowed women is much worser. E This paper intends to discuss the problem a country might face owing to the reverse pyramidal structure and how aging itself become a trauma for the aged people and the society at large.
