Ecological Solid Waste Management: The Kalayaan, Laguna Experience

This research study examines the effectiveness of Ecological Solid Waste Management Practices in Kalayaan, Laguna, focusing on waste segregation, collection, transportation, and enforcement of regulations. The study utilizes a descriptive research method, employing survey questionnaires and document analysis to gather data. Through random sampling, 394 respondents comprising municipal officials and community residents were selected. Findings reveal commendable effectiveness in waste segregation and collection, with minor areas for improvement identified. Challenges persist in areas such as bulky waste collection, provision of personal protective equipment, and enforcement of fines and penalties for littering and dumping. Community awareness and access to recycling facilities emerge as critical issues affecting waste management efficacy. The study underscores the need for continuous improvement and community engagement to enhance waste management practices and ensure environmental sustainability. Overall, the research contributes valuable insights to optimize solid waste management strategies, fostering a cleaner, greener, and healthier living environment in Kalayaan, Laguna.
