This paper discusses the relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in addressing the psychological, emotional, and ethical challenges faced by youth in contemporary society. Modern education systems largely emphasize skill development and employability, often overlooking the importance of mental well-being, self-awareness, and value-based learning. In this context, the Bhagavad Gita offers valuable insights into emotional regulation, ethical action, and self-discipline.
The paper also highlights similarities between the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and modern psychological approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). These parallels demonstrate that traditional knowledge systems can contribute to managing stress, anxiety, and interpersonal conflicts.
Further, the paper elaborates on the advantages of integrating IKS into modern education, including holistic development, ethical awareness, cultural continuity, and improved psychological well-being. It concludes that combining traditional wisdom with modern approaches can help individuals navigate contemporary challenges more effectively.
