Abstract

Gender equality is a linchpin of global progress, intricately woven into the fabric of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This comprehensive analysis delves into the pivotal role of gender equality in the SDGs, emphasizing its centrality in achieving sustainable development by 2030. Goal 5 explicitly calls for gender parity, but gender considerations permeate the entire SDG framework. Progress has been made, yet challenges persist, including gender-based violence, unequal access to education, and the gender pay gap. To advance gender equality within the SDGs, governments must enact gender-responsive policies, empower women through education and economic opportunities, collect gender-disaggregated data, and engage civil society in advocacy. International cooperation is imperative to address this global issue comprehensively. Ultimately, gender equality is not just a goal; it is the catalyst for poverty eradication, health and education access, economic prosperity, and social justice. This analysis underscores the urgency of prioritizing gender equality as a fundamental and transformative element of the SDGs, forging a path toward a more equitable and sustainable world.
